Really experience California with this 13 Day private journey from Los Angeles to San Francisco. You will travel through the renowned Santa Barbara, Monterey and the Napa Valley. Day 1: Arrival in Los Angeles – Upon arrival, you will pick up your own rental at the airport and check into the SLS Beverly Hills hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2: Food and Fashion – Start the day with your insider fashion expert. Your expert will either take you on a tour of haute couture along Rodeo drive, or if you’re feeling more cool or hip, you can visit the cutting edge boutiques of Montana Avenue and West Hollywood. In the afternoon, get a taste of Los Angeles’ superb cuisine on Cañon Drive, known as Beverly Hills’ “Little Restaurant Row”. Take a few hours to explore the refined flavours of the foodie landscape as you enjoy a guided experience provided by our local food expert. You’ll get VIP access to the area’s most acclaimed eateries.
Day 3: Hollywood Hills – In the morning, your expert guide will take you to the Hollywood Hills. See the Hollywood Sign, enjoy a view of the city from high in the Hollywood Hills, trace the steps of nominees and winners at the Kodak Theatre, new home of the Academy Awards, visit Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, with its exotic architecture and movie star handprint, Melrose Avenue, the Sunset Strip, and the celebrity estates of Beverly Hills and Bel-Air – those fabulous, multi-million-dollar palaces that the stars like to call “home”.
Day 4: LA Beach – Following breakfast, meet your stand-up paddleboard guide for a private lesson in Marina Del Ray. Afterward, your biking guide will meet you with bikes to begin exploring the famous Venice canals and go down the boardwalk, stopping to visit Muscle Beach. The afternoon is at your own leisure to shop or relax go to relax by the pool.
Day 5: Santa Barbara – In the morning, start your drive up the California coast to Santa Barbara and check into the Belmond El Encanto. Once you have had time to get relax, head out to a couple of the boutique vineyards in the area and learn how to pair some of your favourite wines with your favourite cheeses.
Day 6: Big Sur – Today is at your leisure to relax, enjoy a spa treatment or two and take in the the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. Check into the Post Ranch Inn.
Day 7: Big Sur – Spend the day enjoying the amazing outdoors, including a hike to Pfeiffer Beach and surrounding state parks. In the evening explore the hotel’s amazing wine cellar with the somalier, before dining in the open on one of the local cliffs.
Day 8: San Francisco – In the morning, take your final long trip up the coast, stopping in Carmel for lunch, going to Monterey to see the Fisherman’s Wharf and experiencing one of the most scenic drives in the world. In the late afternoon, arrive in San Francisco and check into the St Regis San Francisco. The evening is at your leisure to explore this amazing city.
Day 9: Chocolate in San Francisco – Today, guided by a local expert, you will have a unique insider’s adventure into urban San Francisco. In the afternoon, tantalise your taste buds with a chocolate-making experience at Ghiradelli, one of the oldest chocolatiers in the United States. In the evening, take a private sailboat out into the the harbour to watch the sunset and land in the quaint town of Sausalito. There, enjoy a gourmet dinner before heading back to your hotel in San Francisco.
Day 10: Fashion and Mexican Food in San Francisco – In the morning, your personal shopping guide will take you to the best boutiques in Union Square. Then get funkier and move into the Mission district where you will visit a number of San Francisco’s quirkier shops. If all that shopping has made you hungry, in the afternoon, visit with a top Mexican chef for a taco making class.
Day 11: Napa Valley – In the morning take a short drive to Napa Valley and check into the Meadowood Napa Valley. Then, accompanied by your expert wine guide driven in a VIP sedan, get access to the owners and head winemakers at no less than three cult wineries that do not have tasting rooms and are not open to the public. Discuss their winemaking philosophies, visit wine caves and go out into the vineyards to learn growing techniques from the experts. Even explore private art collections and amazing gardens! Includes a lunch paired with estate wines. That evening experience a chef’s tasting dinner at Three Michelin star Meadowood- a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Day 12: Napa Valley – Today, experience some of the local cuisine of Napa Valley. Learn about olive cultivation, the harvest, and artisan methods of olive oil production. Savour the difference as you journey through the elements of oil and vinegar tasting alongside a delightful selection of gourmet bread, cheese and fresh organic produce ending with a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, spend several hours at a top winery tasting from the barrel, learning about blending techniques and strategies and then actually have the opportunity to blend your own Napa Valley APA custom blend that you can take home, corked with your own custom label!
Day 13: Napa to San Francisco- Drive back to San Francisco Airport where you will drop off your car and board you plane home.
